Journal Prompts for Reflection

As 2019 comes to a close, the month of December is starting to feel like a great time to think about the past, present and future. To reflect on all your goals for the new year and all the achievements AND failures.

Holding onto memories is so important, especially if you want to look back on them one day. Writing in a journal is a great way to do this.

One of my favourite things to do at the end of the year and beginning of the new year is to write in my journal about how the year has gone. Such as my experiences and how they’ve helped me to grow in the space of 12 months.

We should always set aside time for reflection. Whether it is by talking to someone, thinking about it or writing it down. When you cannot make reflection into a daily, weekly, or monthly habit you should at least make it an annual ritual.

For some of us, writing things down in a journal is an easy task. The thoughts and ideas flow easier. But I know that journaling isn’t for everyone and it can be difficult to find a good place to start. That’s why using journal prompts is so widely recommended. Prompts for writing help you to narrow down your thoughts and what you want to talk about or focus on.

More than that, journal prompts are a great way to direct your attention an energy in your journey. Especially when a lot of people are at risk of only discussing the negative aspects in their lives without considering the positives. I know this because I used to be like this when I first started journaling. While I still talk at length about the bad parts of my life, I also set a great deal of time to write about the good things, or even the mundane.

I thought I’d share a couple of journal prompts for you to use as inspiration or guidance as you approach the new year. Or even if you just want to write in your journal for the fun of it. These prompts were fun to write and create, as I tried to make them centered on reflection, introspection, positivity and planning the future. I hope you enjoy using them in your own journal.

If you’re interested in starting a journal but have no idea what to write, stay here and read the rest of this blog post. These are my journal prompts for reflection for the past, present and future. Let’s get into them!
